BlackVue uses a microSD card to store all of the footage.

If you format your SD card, it is going to remove all of the footage off of the micro SD card, so make sure you backup anything first.

There are few reasons as to why you might want to format the SD card in the first place. We recommend formatting the microSD card once every two weeks to help increase the longevity of the card.

If your camera is experiencing an issue, formatting the SD card is generally one of the better steps to resolve any problems.

You can format via the camera itself. (Camera power is required to do this step)

DR750S and DR900S series camera

To format the microSD card press the Wi-Fi/format button on the side of the dashcam for 5 seconds until the dash cam beeps. Release and hold for a further 5 seconds until another beep is heard.

You should then hear: "Formatting the SD card, please do not turn off the power."

Formatting a card via the PC Player. (Windows only)

If your microSD card capacity is greater than 32GB, you must use this method.

  1. Power off the dashcam, and take out the microSD card.
  2. Insert the microSD card into the supplied microSD card reader.
  3. Insert the microSD reader into the USB slot of your computer.
  4. Download the relevant software from our website.
  5. Install and run the BlackVue viewer software.
  6. Run the software and select the Format button located in the top menu bar.
  7. Select the microSD card drive and select OK.

Formatting a card via the Mac Viewer. (Mac only)

You need to follow these steps if you have a mac computer.

  1. Power off the dashcam, and take out the microSD card.
  2. Insert the microSD card into the supplied microSD card reader.
  3. Insert the microSD reader into the USB slot of your computer.
  4. You should see the drive appear on the desktop or in Finder.
  5. Using the Mac search, open up the program "Disk Utility"
  6. In Disk Utility, select your drive from the left column, and then erase from the menu in the middle up top.
  7. In the Erase menu, select MS-DOS(FAT) as your format option.
  8. Click erase, and wait for the card to format.

Again, we recommend doing a format fortnightly to increase your SD card longevity. You can simply use the camera to format and are not required to do the steps via a computer.
