NOTE!

  • Formatting the microSD card will delete all the recordings on the card, please make sure to back up the necessary files by saving them in the internal memory or on BlackVue Cloud, or by connecting the microSD card to the computer before formatting it.


Firmware update via a computer

  1. To perform a firmware update on your BlackVue dashcam, you will need to format the microSD card. Unsure how to format the microSD card?

  2. After formatting, download the latest firmware for your specific dash camera model from our downloads page.

  3. You will now have a .zip file, please unzip this to retrieve the following files. Unsure how to unzip files?

  4. Copy the entire 'BlackVue' folder onto the freshly formatted microSD card.

  5. Re-insert microSD card into the camera and power it up to apply the firmware update. 


Firmware Over the Air Upgrade (FOTA)

  1. Open the latest BlackVue app.

  2. Click the menu in the top left corner.

  3. Select "Firmware download" menu.

  4. Choose the BlackVue dashcam model you have and make sure that the firmware language is set to 'English' then select 'OK'.

  5. Once the firmware download is complete please connect to your dashcam's WiFi. Unsure how to connect?

  6. Open the BlackVue app and select BlackVue WiFi.

  7. Select the cog wheel in the top right corner and select Firmware upgrade
    *The firmware file is being transferred from your smartphone to the dashcam, please make sure that the device does not leave the camera while transferring.


  8. After the firmware transfer is complete, the dashcam will reboot and apply the new firmware.
