What is the issue?
Your camera has not recorded the entire duration of the night whilst your vehicle was parked. Upon starting the vehicle, the BlackVue announces "BlackVue for your save driving, starting normal recording" indicating that it has just powered on.
Why is this occurring?
BlackVue cameras are installed and fitted with the Power Magic Pro hard-wiring kit, which acts as a voltage regulator between the camera and vehicle's battery.
As your camera operates, it draws power from the car's battery until a certain threshold/cut-off is reached. Without this cut-off limit (usually 12.5 volts), the camera would continue to operate until the vehicle's battery is very low, which would prevent the car from starting.
The threshold and cutoff is determined by the Power Magic Pro upon installation. Refer to the Power Magic Pro manual for a list of possible settings.
Vehicle batteries do not also retain the same amount of resting voltage from new. Over time, the duration the camera can remain powered when the vehicle is off will be reduced.
What can be done to prevent this?
As with all electronic devices, electricity is required in order for them to operate. If you are seeking to achieve more "parking-mode" time for the BlackVue camera, an external battery pack is the better option. This will not provide 24 hour dash cam power, however it can provide more than the Power Magic Pro.
The two options available are the BlackVue B-112 and the BlackVue Ultra B-124+.
